The central goal of the Detroit Community Data Connection (DCDC) is to increase the quantity, quality, awareness of, and access to neighborhood level data and information for community planning, analysis and problem solving.

One of the DCDC’s objectives is to encourage organizations to share their data with the project. Many organizations have data and information that would be useful for community planning and problem solving activities, or have been involved in projects that have had data gathering as a component.

We would like the community to see the DCDC as an unbiased community resource where "turf" is not an issue. Our mission - Sharing data for the good of the community - is something we truly believe. In order for data to become actionable information it must be shared and discussed with a variety of stakeholders. The goal of DCDC is to provide a mechanism for this sharing. Sharing data can take many forms. In some cases, the data source hands over data, maps or other information to the DCDC to manage; in others, the DCDC website simply connects to existing websites or databases to create maps. Confidentiality and data integrity concerns are resolved on a case-by-case basis, in order to ensure the comfort of the group sharing data, and to make the DCDC website as useful and current as possible. If your organization has data that might be of interest to the DCDC and the community-at-large, please contact us at admin@datadetroit.org
